Some observations from travels

Journey into the Unknown

“This time, like all times, is a very good one, if we but know what to do with it.” by Ralph Waldo Emerson

Change.  Change is defined as to transfer something into another; to convert or transform; to become different; or to make a change.  This will become a journal about my new adventure into the unknown, really, as we do not know what the end result will be.  As any of you might have experienced in the past, we come to a fork on the road or hit a brick wall in the course of our lives.  What do we do when we get to that point?  Do we leap into an unknown abyss or, for those who are planners among us, make a grand plan of ‘to do’s’ and ‘plan a’s or b’s.’  Others consider it a new chapter.  As one ends another starts.

My husband and I experienced a similar journey about ten years ago.  We gave up our jobs and ventured back to where we used to lived then found other jobs and life went on.  This time we gave up our jobs to ‘have a break’ whatever that entailed we are filled with mixed feelings of excitement and anxiety.  We have lived and worked in Singapore for the past four years and felt it was time to move on.  We were meant to go back to Australia but rather than fly back straightway we thought we would take the rough way back.  So we are traveling for a bit around Southeast Asia and this page will record that journey…

So what happened in the world ten years ago?  2001

But, we don’t dwell on the past, we move on.  Happy thoughts, this journey will be filled with happy thoughts.  Fast forward to ten years on.   What’s happened this year, so far.  2011

Steve Jobs passed on.  Both events made changes to our lives, one in a good way and the other not so good.

2012.  It’s just around the corner.  I wonder what it will be about.  The Mayans prophesied that it will be the end of the world.  But maybe not.  Some researchers said that the ‘end of the world’ theory was not imminent.  The Mayan calendar goes through a cycle which ends as 2012 finishes.  This also coincides with winter solstice, a galactic alignment wherein the sun aligns with the center of the milky way.  When this happens major changes such as natural disasters are expected.  On the flip side it also means a beginning of a new cycle which could be great advancement in our civilisation.  A shift.  I am looking forward to the future.

So, if you are interested on how our journey will conclude, come and follow us.  It should be fun.
